Success Story – SFS glass point holders in use

For the construction of the Electric Easy parking garage

In less than two years, a public parking garage was built in the heart of the industrial zone of Glovelier (Canton of Jura). The functional yet elegant structure provides 389 parking spaces across 10 levels, solving the parking problem in this busy area frequented by employees and facility users.

The north and south façades are clad with 21-4S tempered laminated glass featuring black PVB film, while the east and west façades are made of perforated sheet metal trays in natural anodized aluminum.

The original project design called for articulated glass holders to fasten the laminated glass to the fixed substructure. However, during the planning phase, the project team opted for rigid SFS glass point holders of type ALP 45/10-G, with M10x70 screws and an internally threaded spacer. Each glass panel is secured by four glass point holders, which are mounted on custom-designed steel brackets that, in turn, are fixed to the substructure. One glass point holder serves as the fixed point, while the other three function as sliding points, allowing for horizontal and vertical movement to accommodate thermal expansion.

This solution enabled the contractor to refine the substructure and reduce the diameter of the glass point holders. As a result, the costs for the entire substructure were optimized.

In total, the contractor Hevron SA, Courtelle, installed 2,240 SFS ALP 45/10-G glass point holders. The elegant components blend seamlessly into the glass façade.
